Topic Summary

Topic SummaryThe key to writing a term paper on the philosophy of religion is knowing and understanding how to incorporate an array of different factors that are required to write a term paper. This involves incorporating, for example, religious topics on which many different thoughts can be considered when it comes to philosophy of religion. The main idea here is to provide evidence that is free from pre-conceived ideas and beliefs in order to be given credibility in the eyes of an independent panel of judges. The various elements that can be considered include the four w's - What, When, Where and Why.Each of these elements may be used individually, but all together creates a more comprehensive view of philosophy of religion as a discipline known as metaethics. The topic of religion and its impact on philosophy of religion can be hard to tackle because there are so many varying ideas that surround the subject matter. However, the essential concepts and theories that have been introd uced during the years and centuries of philosophy are never going to change or be influenced in any way by whatever theological ideas were used in the past.Another thing that makes philosophy of religion a unique and important topic to address in philosophy of metaethics is that it is not just about the history of religion and the influences it has had on philosophers. It is much more important to understand that religion is an integral part of human lives and can be discussed throughout time and culture. The fact that we all hold one or more belief system or religion in our everyday lives does not negate the relevance and purpose of discussing the philosophy of religion with other scholars on such an important topic. In fact, there are many contemporary topics that are studied with reverence and respect by students and professors alike. The philosophical side of what is considered philosophy of metaethics is known as ethics. The most common of the ethical issues that can be addresse d in the philosophy of religion is the issue of abortion. While many people have different views and opinions on this issue, the fact remains that every single person has a right to live and that their right to life is upheld by society and those who are charged with protecting that right. There are also many different interpretations and ways to interpret the Bible that are not found in the text itself. These other interpretations are part of the discussion in philosophy of religion as opposed to how one can consider the text itself to be the best source of information. Regardless of the reasons that one chooses to study the text, the impact of society, religion and the people of that society is evident in every word in the text regardless of how well written or how far the text has gone in the process. The same applies to ethics and the philosophical side of metaethics. The belief that one should treat another as they would like to be treated by treating them with kindness and compa ssion is an integral part of the philosophy of religion. It is a concept that is universal and is found in different cultures across the globe. This extends to the topic of morality and the philosophical side of metaethics. Ethics and morality are fundamentally connected, however as different cultures and social groups come into existence that represent different views and morals, there are differences in the ethical and moral ideas that each group holds. As well, there are many different groups within the same culture that might hold different moral views as well. This is not to say that the original religious concept and its teachings can be ignored. Ethics and morality are a fundamental aspect of all of the different religions and philosophies that a person may subscribe to and those that are not. While these philosophical elements are important, it is the ethical and moral discussion that should be the focus of the philosophy of religion when it comes to classifying its topics.
